Though Shawn Mendes and Camila Cabello had fans wishing for a fairytale ending to their love story, sources confirm it is not.
Insiders report that the romance between the "Havana" singer and her "Señorita" collaborator, which appeared to reignite this spring, has ended.
A source divulged to Us Magazine (via OK) that Camila was the one who formally cut things off with Shawn.
Their relationship had reached a natural conclusion the second time, after two years of dating, from July 2019 until November 2021.
"The moment they saw each other again, all the memories of their early days came rushing back, and it was clear they still had strong feelings for one another."
Unfortunately, this didn't last long as both recognized why things ended between them in the first place - that they were better suited to remain friends than romantic partners.
The split between Shawn and Camila has been difficult for the former, especially with the latter so quickly back in the dating game.
According to the insider, it has taken its toll on the "Stitches" singer.
"He is having a tough time coming to terms with it," said a source close to him.
Nevertheless, he wants his ex-girlfriend to find joy and will always have fond memories of their relationship.
In April, rumors began to swirl when paparazzi captured images of "I Know What You Did Last Summer" singers engaging in serious public displays of affection at Coachella.
Since then, they have been spotted together numerous times in Los Angeles and New York City.

While in the VIP section of MetLife Stadium, Shawn and Camila were spotted engaging in public displays of affection.
According to an eyewitness, they were sitting close together with Shawn on a chair, and Camila leaned against him. His arms were around her shoulders, and he had even kissed her on the shoulder.
As Phoebe Bridgers took to the stage for her opening act, Shawn and Camila were among the first well-known attendees to enter the exclusive VIP area.
Reports say it caused quite a stir in the crowd, with fans elated by their presence.
The attendee remarked that when the couple was noticed in the crowd, those in attendance turned away from the stage and towards them while cheers of encouragement began to erupt.
The rumors of rekindled love began to swirl when a couple was spotted sharing a passionate kiss at the Coachella music festival in April.
Surprising onlookers, an insider later revealed the romantic moment hadn't been premeditated, and neither expected anything further to stem from it.
