Before her collapse and stay in intensive care during the week, speculation had been growing that Madonna was engaged in a secret project.

Following the announcement of her "serious bacterial infection" which resulted in her 84-date "Celebration" tour being postponed, it appears that this secret project was indeed music related.

In celebration of Madonna's 40th year in music, the "Vogue" singer was reportedly collaborating with Katy Perry.

Known for her dance-pop bangers such as "Fireworks" and "Teenage Dream," Katy is said to have lent a helping hand to Madonna on this special project.

The Sun recently reported that the two pop icons had been dreaming of collaborating for some time, but they hadn't yet put anything out.

However, mere hours before Madonna was admitted to hospital they were closer than ever to finally getting a project off the ground.

Despite being unwell, Madonna refused to let it affect her work.

Reportedly, the Queen of Pop was in the studio with the "I Kissed A Girl" singer before she was rushed to ICU after being found unresponsive.

Reassuring of her determination and dedication to both her music and tour, a source revealed to Page Six that Madonna had been pushing herself hard before her medical emergency.

The sheer dedication of the "Material Girl" singer to her art was evident only hours before her hospitalization, as despite feeling unwell she was still determined to continue working in the studio with Katy Perry.

This confirms what a close friend has reported- Madonna never stops pushing herself.

The pal noted that while the hitmaker is already doing amazingly well for herself, it's important for her to remember that many of the people with whom is collaborating are much younger and don't have the same experience of overcoming years' worth of injuries.

The source claimed that they need to understand that "her pushing herself can only get them so far."

It was reported Wednesday that Madonna had been found "unresponsive" over the weekend.

Nonetheless, those close to her remarked how other acts older than her are still on tour, yet not dancing and performing as she does.

This week, it was publicized that the celebrity had been put on a ventilator for some time before the tube was taken out.

Due to the bacterial infection she experienced, Madonna's representative released an announcement.

"We will share more details with you as soon as we have them, including a new start date for the tour and for rescheduled shows."
