Wolfgang Van Halen found inspiration in Dave Grohl as his "Rock God."

Grohl created his own empire through Foo Fighters after Nirvana, where he served as a drummer, disbanded after Kurt Cobain's death. Although he is his band's lead vocalist and guitarist, he still receives praise from other musicians for his unmatched drumming style.

Dave Grohl Is Wolfgang Van Halen's "Rock God"

Out of all the drummers in the industry, Van Halen picked Grohl as the greatest of all.

Eddie Van Halen's son, who formerly served as Van Halen's bassist before becoming Mammoth WVH's frontman, told BBC's "The Rock Show With Johnnie Walker" during the "Rock God" segment that the Foo Fighters' rocker inspires him "infinitely."

"I really admire how he came from Nirvana, and then after that sadly ended, how he was able to build his own thing with Foo Fighters," Van Halen said. "It's how I mirror a lot of my experience, so where I've come from and what I've tried to do myself. So he's just everything I aspire to be."

Van Halen noted that he first saw Grohl when he listened to Foo Fighters' fifth album, "In Your Honor," and revealed that the song always got stuck in his head after listening to it.

Through that music, he learned more about the lead vocalist, which made him look up to him so much more. He also spoke highly of Grohl and declared that the Foo Fighters frontman is everything he "aspires to be."

He previously told Bass Player magazine that Grohl has been one of his biggest inspirations since he launched his musical career. He scored the chance to play with him during Taylor Hawkins tribute concerts in 2022.

Dave Grohl Created Foo Fighters as One-Man Band

After Nirvana's disbandment, Grohl debuted as a soloist through the one-man band, Foo Fighters.

Its 1995 debut was a success, leading him to make it a whole band with Nate Mendel, Pat Smear, and William Goldsmith as new band members.

Although Foo Fighters' name made an impression that the band had several members, Grohl explained that he made it sound like that despite doing all the jobs alone.
