by Judge David Herriford of the Los Angeles Superior County Court last Aug. 8, 2023.

During the sentencing trial, it was revealed that Iggy Azalea penned a personal letter in support of Peterson. As soon as it was reported, people online slammed Azalea for supporting Peterson, given the fact that he was against a fellow-female rapper, Megan Thee Stallion.

Initially, she claimed that she expressed support for Peterson, and instead advocates for prison reform. However, the released copy of her letter has now resurfaced online and it begs to differ from her initial statement.

Iggy Azalea Letter of Support to Tory Lanez

On Aug. 9, 2023, Iggy Azalea reacted to the backlash that came after when Legal Affairs Journalist Meghann Cuniff tweeted that she gave a letter of support to Tory Lanez during his sentencing trial.

Per Azalea, she pleads with Judge David Herriford to give Peterson a sentence that is "transformational, not life-destroying."

Netizens have quickly slammed Azalea for her support against Peterson, to which she said that she had "not been in touch" with Tory Lanez for months as he had no reason to be. Also, Azalea clarified that she does not "support" anyone on the case as it is a thing "full of oddities."

"I support prison reform. Period," she tweeted. "I was asked to write about my genuine experience and the type of punishment I think he deserves: I did. It's not really that interesting but I understand why it's being sensationalized."

Days after, Cunnif posted a copy of Azalea's full letter of support for Peterson.

In her letter, she listed that she had spent her entire career "battling sexism and bad behavior behind the curtains," and among those times, a very helpful, and generous Tory Lanez had helped him throughout.

"We've remained friends since and what I've come to understand about Daystar is: he's genuinely passionate about helping others. He will go out of his way to help someone he sees even a glimmer of greatness inside," she has written in support. Azalea also vouched Peterson that since he was "incredibly respectful" of her, then she "refuse to believe" that he do anything in malice, especially to a woman.

Elsewhere in the post, she also confessed that when Peterson was convicted, she had hired six of his previous workers, and admitted that after Peterson served time, she would hire him as her executive producer for an album.
