An expert spoke about Lisa Marie Presley's "chronic Presley problem" that may have contributed to the singer's death in January.

Elvis Presley's daughter faced the same fate as the late King of Rock and Roll when she died, aged 54, following a cardiac arrest caused by her strangulated small bowel. But years before her death, Elvis struggled with health issues that potentially played a huge role in her passing, as well.

"Presley Chronic Problem" Led to Lisa Marie Presley's Death?

Lisa Marie Presley's autopsy report confirmed that her death was caused by a small bowel obstruction - something her father also suffered before he died of cardiac arrest decades ago. She also had different health problems, including nausea, abdominal pain, vomiting, and long-lasting fevers.

Sally Hoedel, an Elvis Historian, spoke to The Sun about Lisa Marie, calling her digestive disorder a "chronic Presley" problem that went back to childhood for her. She added that the singer's bowel obstruction was like Elvis' condition when he died, though the rockstar's cause of death was determined as a heart attack.

"There is testimony to it being a problem for Elvis as a toddler and a teen, long before fame and prescription medication," the historian said. "This was also true for Lisa Marie, as her own testimony attests to it being known since childhood."

Lisa Marie's surgery is commonly for weight loss, but it is also being used to treat chronic digestive issues. Thus, Hoedel believes she only opted a bariatric surgery to finally have relief from the pain that "became normal to her" almost her whole lifetime.

Because of the similarities, the historian opened up about the possibility that her genes also caused her to suffer a similar fate as her father.

Why Did Lisa Marie Undergo Weight Loss Surgery?

Although Hoedel said the surgery could also be Lisa Marie's way to treat her digestive problems, the singer's friend and fellow ex-Scientologist Jeffrey Augustine said the "You Ain't Seen Nothin' Yet" hitmaker wanted to look good despite her age.

As cited by Radar Online, Augustine noted that Lisa Marie wanted to look good at the Golden Globes red carpet event - her last public appearance before she died. He revealed that she went on a crash diet to lose 40 pounds and that her financial struggles pushed her to attend the ceremony.
