Perhaps as a way to cope with her impending divorce, Britney Spears got herself a new puppy, which she introduced to her fans on Instagram.
The "Oops I Did It Again" singer shared a video of a white ball of fluff and captioned the post, "Introducing Snow... The new [addition] to the family... It's her world and we just live in it."
Spears did not indicate how she got Snow if she bought the puppy or she rescued it from a shelter, netizens and even PETA came after her.
"When influential people buy puppies, puppy mills cheer and animal shelters watch the homeless-animal crisis get even worse," a spokesperson from the animal organization told TMZ.
"With this one cutesy post, Britney Spears has sentenced countless deserving dogs in shelters to more days without love, a comfy bed to curl up on, or a chance at a real life."
"She could have been a force for good and adopted, but instead she chose to be toxic, and animals will pay with their lives," PETA added.

Although Spears did not explain why she needed a new puppy, some assumed that it might have something to do with her divorce from Sam Asghari.
Following the backlash from PETA, the singer reportedly turned off the comments to the Instagram post and has not responded to any requests for an interview or statement.

According to reports, Spears and Asghari announced their divorce a week ago, which resulted in a myriad of reports about their marriage like an alleged third party, neglect, custody over their five dogs, and more.
"After six years of love and commitment to each other, my wife and I have decided to end our journey together," Ashari wrote in an Instagram post.
"We will hold onto the love and respect we have for each other and I wish her the best always. S-t happens. Asking for privacy seems ridiculous so I will just ask for everyone including media to be kind and thoughtful."
A few days later, Spears wrote: "As everyone knows, Hesam and I are no longer together ... 6 years is a long time to be with someone so, I'm a little shocked but ... I'm not here to explain why because its honestly nobody's business! I couldn't take the pain anymore honestly!"
