With Labor Day coming and going at the very top of September and all the kids snugged back into their desks at school, summer is officially over. With the new fall season on the horizon, today (Sept. 3), Billboard announced the official charted song of the summer... and the honor goes to Iggy Azalea and Charli XCX with "Fancy."

According to Billboard, "Fancy" tops the Songs of the Summer chart (which runs from Memorial Day to Labor Day) thanks to the song's seven week run at No. 1, and Azalea's strong start even leading into the season. Despite hits from MAGIC! and Taylor Swift eventually topping the Hot 100 during the 2014 summer months, Azalea's stake in the top five of the charts helped her to secure the song.

"Fancy" is followed by MAGIC!'s "Rude" and Ariana Grande and Iggy Azalea's "Problem" in the Nos. 2 and 3 spots, respectively.

The rest of the Songs of the Summer 2014 chart will be revealed on Thursday.

Though "Fancy" may be the official charted song of the summer, the choice has left many critics and music fans wanting more, pointing out that "Fancy" was unavoidable during the year's hottest months, but nobody truly loved the song.

And does "Fancy" really pack the punch of other recent songs of the summer... Robin Thicke's "Blurred Lines," Carly Rae Jepsen's "Call Me Maybe" or Katy Perry's "California Gurlz"?

Critics have pointed to "Problem," the Jessie J, Ariana Grande and Nicki Minaj collaboration "Bang Bang," Sam Smith's "Stay With Me" or even Minaj's solo single "Anaconda" were all more infectious, better summer hit suggestions.

Which brings up the question... what song really defined summer 2014? Submit your answer in the Music Times poll below!
