Elvis Presley expanded his love for music by covering songs made by other artists.

Although he had hit songs he released when he was still alive, Presley took his time to appreciate other artists' music by making covers of them - but Dolly Parton, however, did not want him to cover her hit song, "I Will Always Love You."

Why Dolly Parton Prevented Elvis Presley From Making a Cover of Her Song

Speaking with BBC Radio 2, Parton explained the real reason why she never let the King of Rock and Roll cover her track, "I Will Always Love You." Per the singer, her decision was mainly because of her conflict with his manager, Colonel Tom Parker.

"I wouldn't let Colonel Tom Parker," she said. "Elvis loved it. I talked to Priscilla not very long ago - she said, 'Elvis sang it to me when we were on the courthouse steps after we got divorced'.

Parton revealed that Presley loved the song so much he wanted to do a cover of it, and the "Can't Help Falling in Love" singer's team had already called her to the studio to hear part of the song he had already worked up.

However, Parker called Parton the night before and said he would not allow Presley to do it unless he had the publishing rights - something she refused to give up. She added that the manager did not agree to her terms.
