King Buzzo set the record straight regarding the longtime buzz that The Melvins fired Kurt Cobain from the band.

While The Melvins were producing their 1993 album, "Houdini," the group shocked fans when the news about Cobain's "firing" emerged. The Nirvana frontman was dismissed because of his addiction issues, per Buzz Osbourne.

However, Buzzo called the firing claims "disgusting" before clarifying in a new interview what truly happened.

Was Kurt Cobain Fired From The Melvins?

In a new interview with Revolver, Buzzo was asked about the catalyst moment that made them realize that Cobain should not be in the group.

"Yeah - that's exactly what happened," he said. "He didn't show up for one of the sessions; it was just really obvious."

Buzzo added that removing Cobain was not a judgment call on his abilities as a musician but a response to the fact that things would not work between them.

The musician cited what Nirvana manager, Danny Goldberg, said about Cobain deciding to quit because the members wanted him to write songs for the band. Buzzo dismissed the claims and said he does not need anybody to do so for him.

Despite the fallout, Buzzo admitted that he has yet to move on from Cobain following his tragic death.

"The whole Nirvana thing ... was not a happy time, with how it all ended and everything," he opened up. "When I hear their music, it's difficult for me to have feelings that aren't affected by that."

How Did Kurt Cobain Die?

Cobain was found dead inside his Seattle, Wash., home by an electrician named Gary Smith, who was called to install a security system in the house. He reportedly discovered his body three days after his passing.

The famed singer was in a coma before he ultimately passed away due to consumption of champagne and the drug Rohypnol.

A 10-page FBI file noted that his fans requested to investigate his death as a possible homicide and not a suicide due to rumors that Courtney Love had something to do with the tragic event.

Meanwhile, the Seattle Police Department held a reexamination and found out that the singer died from a gunshot wound. He also left a suicide note.
