Colbie Caillat just released a new album and she recently revealed that the record was ready to be dropped years ago, but she opted to delay it due to a devastating reason; what happened with the singer?
According to Taste of Country, the new record titled "Along the Way" was written three years ago and she already recorded the entirety of the project the following year.
However, she still decided to delay the official release date because of what she felt after she and her fiancé, Justin Young, ended their relationship after a decade of being together.
In an interview with the outlet, Caillat said of why she didn't release the record in 2021: "They were still too fresh to go out and promote and sing every day."

Elsewhere in the conversation, the musician opened up that the new album is a breakup record.
For those who haven't listened to the music project yet, you would expect a tracklist full of heartwrenching songs with heartbreaking lyrics.
However, Caillat prove that musicians could still write breakup songs without the need to add lyrics which alluded to a person's suffering following a breakup.
"There's all different kinds of breakup songs," she says. "You can be mad at the person. You can not like them, you can be happy it's over," she said.

In addition, she explained that the album is important for her as well as for others who were in good relationships.
However, not everyone is meant for each other to be together for a long periods of time.
"You can love each other and not be right for each other," she added.
Why Did Colbie Caillat, Justin Young Break Up?
During the early days of the pandemic, Caillat's fans were shocked as she announced to the world her breakup from her fiancé Justin Young.
In a social media post, the musician revealed that it was difficult for the both of them to share the bad news, but they wanted to be honest with their supporters.
"After 10 wonderful years, Justin and I have ended our relationship," she noted.
Although she didn't reveal the exact reason why they broke up, she noted that the separation was amicable. Since they started off as best friends, she assured fans that they will remain the same.
