In a flurry of activity, Brandon Blackstock, Kelly Clarkson's ex-husband, has taken to the courts to try and overturn a ruling that would have him paying the multi-platinum artist millions.

Court documents obtained by Radar Online reveal that legal teams working on behalf of Starstruck Management Group are appealing the decision earlier made by the California Labor Commission.

Kelly Clarkson's Husband Is Fighting Back

It was announced last month that the California Labor Commission had concluded Brandon Blackstock, son of Starstruck CEO Narvel Blackstock, had taken excessive commissions while acting as Kelly's manager during their marriage.

The labor commission's decided that Brandon had acted without the proper license for booking gigs.

Consequently, he had to repay Kelly $2.6 million in commissions from the events and performances he booked.

Specifically, this included $1.9 million for "The Voice" show, $208,000 for Norwegian Cruise Line, $450,000 for a Wayfair deal, and $93.30 from his involvement in the Billboard Music Awards.

Kelly vs. Starstruck

After a prosperous 13-year business relationship, Kelly Clarkson and her management company, Starstruck, have been embroiled in a legal dispute.

Starstruck is suing the singer for $1.4 million in unpaid commissions from 2020, though they had already received $1.9 million from her work on "The Kelly Clarkson Show" and "The Voice" for that year.

In their lawsuit, it was announced that the "Since U Been Gone" singer decided to end her payment agreement with Starstruck, despite the latter's efforts and commitment.

To obtain justice, Kelly took legal action against her former manager. She filed a case with the California Labor Commission, claiming that Brandon had defrauded her by excessively charging for his services.

Repayments Drama

Moreover, it was alleged that he did not have a license to act as a talent agent and sought repayment of the millions he received from Kelly.

Bryan Freedman, the formidable lawyer for Starstruck, spoke to TMZ, saying, "It seems as though the labor petition is oblivious to Kelly's. CAA, her certified talent agency, made Kelly's submission. Even when Starstruck Management Group provided her with management services, CAA was still considered her official representative."

The spokesperson commented, "It is "a shame that Kelly is resorting to not paying the commissions owed to Starstruck to better her situation for her divorce and child custody dispute."

After a long and complicated divorce process, Kelly and Brandon reached an agreement in March 2022.

The superstar was granted primary custody of their two children, while Brandon received generous monthly support payments. He was to receive $115,000 spousal support until January 2024 and an additional $45,600 for child support. In addition, Kelly paid her ex-husband a lump sum of $1.3 million.
