Earlier this year, people were shocked when Taylor Swift announced that Gayle would be one of her supporting acts for the North American leg of her highly-successful "The Eras Tour" and for the singer, it was one of the best moments that ever happened in her life.

According to Billboard, the young pop star canceled her series of shows in Canada and the United States to focus on her mental health.

She recently spoke with NBC News to recall that moment, saying that even though she never went on her headlining shows, there was something better in her cards as she later became an opening for Taylor Swift.

"If I would had gone on the tour, I wouldn't have been able to meet Taylor, and to have been able to open up for her," she told the outlet.

Gayle Feels Working With Taylor Swift Was 'Like An Ugly Blessing'

Later on, the musician explained that she saw the opportunity as "like, an ugly blessing." Discussing the reason behind it, she further noted that it was a big lesson for her to look at herself and understand "that taking care of yourself can work out for you in the long run."

Elsewhere in the conversation, Gayle recalled her experience meeting Swift for the first time, saying she was so nervous at that moment.

She noted that the mega pop superstar asked her personally if she opens for concerts, then she remembered answering: "'I open up for people who ask me to open up for them.'"

Regardless, Gayle went on to open for Swift's shows in the United States and she considers it as a once in a lifetime moment.

"It was the most amazing thing in the whole entire world," she said.

She acknowledged how big "The Eras Tour" stage waas as it was almost the size of a football field and whenever she performs, she could only make it in the middle of the diamond, but for the last show, she ran through the whole stage which took her five minutes.

Gayle Cancels Tour

Last year, Gayle was scheduled to perform at different venues across the United States for her "Avoiding College" tour, but weeks before she kicked off the first date, she announced that she would be cancelling the entirety of it.

"I'm so sorry to any of you who had planned on coming to see me next month on Gayle's tour. I promise you I'll be back on the road in no time. I love you!" she told her followers.
