Born Jennie Kim on January 16, 1996, in Seoul, South Korea, the musician is now 27 years old! The singer is an only child of her parents and she initially studied in her home country before moving to New Zealand.

At a young age, the singer said she enjoyed staying in the country, which made her parent enroll her at Waikowhai Intermediate School in Auckland and she lived with a home-stay family.

Jennie heard K-pop for the first time back when she was abroad and she particularly listened to YG Entertainment artists.

Her mom's initial plans was for her to move to the United States when she was 14 to continue her studies and eventually work as a lawyer or teacher, but Jennie wasn't fond of the idea so she came back to South Korea in 2010.

At a young age, Jennie dreamt of becoming an idol so she auditiond for YG Entertainment. Fortunately, she got in and became a trainee under the company.

The singer became a part of BLACKPINK with Jisoo, Rosé, and Lisa. The four women later dominated the music industry in South Korea then internationally.

Jennie just established her own label called ODD ATELIER or simply known as OA. In an interview, she discussed: "It's my first time showing it to the public with a microphone so it feels strange. I feel good to be able to do it in front of you."

She revealed that she's grateful for her time with YG Entertainment as she learned a lot of things from them back when she was still under their management, but the reason why she left and started her own company was because she wants to do things on her own.

Speaking about a full-lenght solo album, the musician didn't share more information about it, but she teased that one of her goals this 2024 is to "release my first solo full-lenth album to the world."
