    Both Coachella and Governors Ball got Twitter riled up when the respective music festivals announced their 2015 lineups this week, with many a rant and many a joyous declaration of thanks to the music gods. CrowdFlower, a data-mining and crowdsourcing company out of San Francisco, gathered the numbers on the more local of the two festivals from those tweeting and sent the results out for Music Times to check out.

    Yesterday would have been Elvis Presley's 80th birthday and we just can't get enough of the awesome coverage that folks on the internet have come up with to mark the occasion. Spotify's Insights blog once again uses data gathered by its Echo Nest, this time to create "The Elvis Influence," an application that traces any performer you enter all the way back to Elvis by way of influence. Some performers obviously have longer trails back to The King than others so often, unlike Kevin Bacon, you need more than six steps to get back.

A songwriter from Nashville, Greg "Sir Mashalot" Todd, has used Pro Tools to make a hybrid song from those acts plus Blake Shelton, Cole Swindell, Chase Rice and Parmalee just to demonstrate how similar their music is.

    Italian producers, Nari & Milani, known for their single "Atom" are being accused of ripping off French electronic producer Mr. Oizo, real name Quentin Dupieux. Nari & Milani's track "Triangle," set for release on Jan. 26 via Sander van Doorn's Doorn Records, a subsidiary of major Dutch dance label, Spinnin' Records has eerily similar sound to Mr. Oizo's classic tune "Flat Beat." The internet has been buzzing about this and generally has not been happy with what is felt to be a rip off of a classic. Mr. Oizo himself has chimed and expressed that he is "not ok" with it. Nari & Milani have responded to the accusations in a lengthy Facebook post defending their actions, pointing to a Vengeance sample pack.
