• Jay Z Cleared from Lawsuit Regarding One-Syllable-Sample on "Run This Town" with Rihanna and Kanye West

    Jay Z is undefeated in court this week as a judge threw out the case from label TufAmerica that claims Jay Z and his crew used an illegal sample for its 2009 hit "Run This Town." The lawsuit received many a narrowed eyebrow over its claims that the song sampled the phrase "oh," specifically the "oh" featured on the Eddie Bo recording "Hook & Sling Part 1," versus any other "oh" uttered by any other performer in the history of recorded music.

    Nicki Minaj has previewed "Big Daddy" from her upcoming highly anticipated artist album The Pinkprint featuring Philadelphia rapper Meek Mill. The "Anaconda" rapper decided to premiere the song on Power 99, a hip-hop radio station in Philadelphia. The decision to play the song on Philadelphia radio must have been influenced by Meek Mill's recent stint in jail and his release only a week ago. He was unable to play a homecoming gig recently due to his jail time, so this acts as small payback to his local fans

    The Voice season seven has its final four. Last night (Dec. 9), for the first time ever eliminated contestants were given the opportunity to re-enter the competition in the new Wildcard segment. After barely missing the top three on his own merits, former TSA agent and soul singer Damien will be joining Matt McAndrew, Chris Jamison and Craig Wayne Boyd in next week's finale.
  • J. Cole Releases 'Apparently' Music Video [WATCH]

    J. Cole officially released his third artist album "2014 Forest Hills Drive" yesterday, Dec. 9. Though the album leaked last week, the full retrospective look into the "Fire Squad" is now available to all. He has released the music video for the 11th track on the album, titled "Apparently." Cole takes a more minimalistic approach to his video: Instead of bringing out nice cars and scantily dressed women, he kept with the down-to-earth and grounded theme of the album that focuses on family and his childhood, via "Complex."Cole keeps the personal theme of the album and the track in the video, rapping in front of grainy projections of home movies taken at his childhood home in Fayetteville, North Carolina, at 2014 Forest Hills Drive. It remains minimal with a small lighting fixture standing in for a chorus before Cole returns to his projector background of abstract imagery, similar to an iTunes visualizer.The first verse from "Apparently" hits home right away with Cole's theme of family and the home he grew up in:
  • Pirate Bay Shut Down, Maybe for Good, Following Police Raid in Stockholm; New Costa Rican Address Revealed?

    Has The Pirate Bay finally received its black spot? Conjecture seems to suggest that the "world's most notorious" pirating site may be done for good following a police raid on Tuesday. Swedish authorities entered a computer server hall in Stockholm with a warrant, although a spokesperson for the force didn't suggest whether any arrests were made in connection to the raid. The Pirate Bay website is now down accordingly.

    One Direction recently went on Dutch TV to promote their new artist album 1D and after an interview with host Humberto Tan on RLT Late Night. They discuss a whole range of topics including their upcoming tour, success and Four, but also get a special surprise from Dutch DJ/producer Nicky Romero. The host had apparently asked Romero to pick out a song on the album of his liking and make a special edit of it just for show. Nicky Romero chose "18" and played the single remix for them on TV.

    The three remaining members of Led Zeppelin may never reunite. The main issue is between Robert Plant and Jimmy Page. Page is for a reunion, Plant is against one. John Paul Jones probably doesn't care anymore. So the possibility of the band playing some shows with another lead singer exists, right? Enter Heart's Ann Wilson.

    A popular Atlanta strip club DJ has been arrested for hiring his best friend to murder his wife. Andre Jason Pugh, known as DJ Awesome throughout the city and at Oynx adult entertainment venue, has been charged in a murder-for-hire plot. Pugh allegedly hired his childhood friend, Adrian Harley, to kill his wife and then make it look like an attempted robbery-gone-wrong.
