In its second edition, Ultra Music Festival South Africa has announced the first wave of artists that will join its revelers for next year's edition in 2015. The lineup includes your standard festival headliners Armin van Buuren, newly re-crowned most popular DJ in the world, Martin Garrix and Axwell Ingrosso. Ultra always looks to include some local artists and they do so with the additions of live electronic band, Goldfish and trance DJ Protoculture. -
Earl Sweatshirt Shares Weird New Song "45" [LISTEN]
Odd Future member Earl Sweatshirt has shared a new track titled “45,” which you can check out below. The Alchemist-produced track is typical Earl, rhyming over a dark, grimy beat without any sort of hook or refrain. The track runs at an incredibly short 1:16, leading Consequence of Sound to speculate that this is just the first half of the actual song, though a more experimentally-minded rapper like Earl could easily be recording an entire album of brief songs like this, similar to Madvillainy. -

The newfound partnership between kings of the progressive deadmau5 and Eric Prydz took a new step forward this past weekend. At Gary Richard's Hard Day of the Dead, the two hosted their own stage with a selection of hand-picked artists and then closed out the night with a rare, two-hour, back-to-back set. Some intrepid soul was kind enough to sacrifice their own experience for the benefit of everyone by recording the whole thing and then putting it on YouTube.Taking place at the Pomona Fairplex over Halloween weekend — Saturday, Nov. 1, and Sunday, Nov. 2 — Prydz and deadmau5 hosted their own Mau5ville stage. The name "Mau5ville" is the convenient combination of their two labels: "Mau5trap" for deadmau5 and "Mouseville" for Prydz. They brought on some friends, including Eekkoo, Jeremy Olander, Alesia and the mysterious and much-hyped ZHU with them Saturday. -

Probably the most highly anticipated album in recent memory, Kendrick Lamar's follow-up to the critically acclaimed good kid m.A.A.d city has everyone buzzing and hungry for any information or piece of the effort they can get their hands on. One lucky man, Hot 97's Peter Rosenberg, was given a short private preview of some of K. Dot's new material, which will presumably be featured on the LP. He described the four songs he heard as "not anything like what you've heard from Kendrick before." -
Skrillex Remix EP Released Early on iTunes [LISTEN]
Rumored to be released later this month, according to Less Than 3, Skrillex’s remix EP for “Ragga Bomb” featuring Ragga Twins and “Ease My Mind” featuring Niki and the Dove has popped up early on iTunes for download. The two tracks come from Skrillex’s recent artist album "Recess," released in May.The remix package packs a punch with solid additions from Zomboy, Jai Wolf, GTA and Teddykillers.The first remix for Ragga Bomb featured a collaborative remix effort by Skrillex and Zomboy, which makes sense since they have similar styles. It is also interesting since there was speculation that there was a rift between the two over a potential copy by Zomboy of a Skrillex song. -
Peter Gabriel, Serj Tankian Contribute Songs to Gaza Benefit Album '2 Unite All'
Legendary singer-songwriter Peter Gabriel and System of a Down frontman Serj Tankian have never shied away from political statements in their music, so it should come as no surprise that both artists have contributed songes to a new benefit compilation album titled "2 Unite All," which goes toward funding humanitarian aid to Palestinians in Gaza. According to radio.com, the album was produced by Project Peace on Earth and is currently available for purchase."Helping to rebuild the lives of Palestinians in Gaza is a necessary and noble worldwide humanitarian prerogative that we must not shy away from," Tankian says about the album in a statement. "It's the least we can do for a people that have suffered under an occupation, embargo, and invasion."For the album, Tankian contributed a song titled "Spinning Mysteries at the Sacred Groove," which features Police drummer Stewart Copeland. -

SoundCloud Confirms Licensing Deal with Warner Music Group
After posting a $29 million loss in 2013, there was a real sense of urgency that something had to give at Swedish music streaming service SoundCloud to create a sustainable revenue stream that would not only pay artists and labels, but also get them out of the red. It appears it is on the road to do that after the announcement that it finally penned the back-and-forth deal with Warner Music Group.The deal marks the first of the three majors to sign with a licensing deal with SoundCloud, which has reportedly been close to signing with the three majors in the past. But after those deals fell through and the recent posting of its 2013 losses, things started to look grim for SoundCloud and its ability to monetize its massive user base.
