  • Imagine Dragons, Kendrick Lamar release studio version of explosive 'Radioactive' remix after Grammy performance [LISTEN]

When the Grammys first announced that arena rockers Imagine Dragons and rap's newest, greatest player in the game Kendrick Lamar, it seemed like a combination destined for disaster. However, from the moment that Lamar joined in on "Radioactive" by busting some seriously sick beats, it was clear that this was a performance highlight of the night (and it was one of Music Times' top picks).
  • Grammys 2014: Rap and R&B winners, Macklemore and Ryan Lewis took over the genre at this year's awards

This year, R&B and rap were recognized in a big way at the 2014 Grammys. Macklemore and Ryan Lewis really took over the genre for the awards. In addition to just taking home multiple trophies, they made a huge impression during their performance when Queen Latifah joined them to officiate the marriages 33 couples and Madonna joined in. When asked what Latifah thinks about the winners in the Best New Artist category, she told Los Angeles Times: "Macklemore & Lewis are hugely successful with Grammy after Grammy for making good music and for talking about things that matter to people."

  • Awesome Tapes From Africa DJ event cancelled amidst racist posts, false advertising

Racial tensions and music are already high enough in the music world. A report from Billboard from the beginning of the year pointed out, uncomfortably, that none of last year's Hot 100 no. 1 singles were performed by black musicians. Now, some of the more cynical critics of mainstream music are already alleging that Macklemore's conquest of the rap categories at Sunday's Grammy Awards was based more on being comfortable to whites than being appreciated by all. One genre that hasn't seen as much ethnic dispute is EDM, but a cancelled event in Toronto may have turned that table.

  • Pharrell Williams' crazy brown Grammy hat goes viral on Twitter as he wins all the awards [PHOTOS]
