Before the show we had the pleasure of meeting up Eric and Tommy from electronic / rock group Breathe Carolina to chat about a whole variety of topics. We talked about their shift over to dance music, how the tour has gone and what was the thinking behind it and their upcoming music, which includes some big collaborations along the way. They also give a PSA on how to avoid the dreaded friend zone or get out of it if you are trapped. -
Live Review: Hozier Takes Sold Out Crowd to Church During Final Night of U.S. Tour
On Thursday night (Nov. 6), the Irving Plaza in New York City went to church. Not literally, of course, the 1000-something capacity venue wasn't turned into a technical sanctuary though something miraculous did happen. No, the Irving Plaza was converted to the word of Hozier. -
Live Review: Nick Jonas is Late, Brings Out Tinashe in Brooklyn Ahead of Solo Album Release
Most touring acts have an opening band. Nick Jonas had an empty stage. On the second night of three shows in New York City, the former Jonas Brother and burgeoning solo pop artist in his own right eschewed the traditional supporting act for an extended waiting period... In other words, he was late. -
[REVIEW] Boyz II Men Rock 'Resorts World Casino New York City' with Classic Hits and New Music from Latest Album 'Collide'
A cold and rainy night in New York City as my bus from Philadelphia pulls up to 34th street, nothing but panic rushes through my veins as I run with my umbrella, avoiding my straighten hair from doing flips as I gun it for the express A train heading to the Resorts World Casino New York City to hear one of the world's legendary R&B groups, Boyz II Men perform live for the first time in my life. -

The 2014 CMJ Music Marathon has come to a close. It was a whirlwind week full of more music than was physically possible to check out. We made our way through Manhattan and Brooklyn to catch as many acts as we could. One of the best things about CMJ is discovering bands you never set out to see. Live Review: Gerard Way Brings a "Possitive Polly" Attitude and the Glitzy 'Hesitant Alien' to New York City
Say what you will about the pop-punk of the mid-2000s or My Chemical Romance in particular, but if there's one thing that still remains from that scene, it's unbridled passion for music. Last night (Oct. 20), former MCR frontman and newly branded solo artist Gerard Way performed for a sold-out crowd at the Irving Plaza in New York City and the fans (and Way) were more enthusiastic than ever. -
Live Review: Conor Oberst, Dawes Get Folky and Full in New York City's Central Park with Career-Spanning Setlist
As the sun set in New York City's Central Park last night (July 29), singer-songwriter Conor Oberst was talking about cannibalism and the looming demise of humankind. "This song is about when all the water and oil runs out and we turn into cannibals. It's not that far away," the frontman warned the sizable and enthusiastic crowd before easing into the Bright Eyes track "No One Would Riot For Less." -
Concert Review: John Ryle House in Haledon, NJ, 7/12/14
The last time I went to a show at the John Ryle House in Haledon, NJ, bayonets were discovered in the garage by a couple of people who had consumed an exorbitant amount of alcohol. Nobody died or was even (seriously) injured, but that's the sort of thing that would normally persuade me to never return. So why did I go back last night? Because Omegalith and Huge Pupils were playing. -
