If you're up to date on the world's best clubs, you know that the name "Space Ibiza" is a big deal. The original version of the venue, on the Spanish island of the same name of course, is the top ranked nightclub in the world according to DJMag.com (it's a much less contentious list than the site's "best DJ's" list). The New York City location of Space Ibiza opened to the public over the weekend and its first event was a smash, featuring appearances from Skrillex, Diplo and A-Trak (from Dancing Astronaut).

The night was part of fashion week, celebrating the launch of Jeremy Scott's new collection, "Psychedelic Jungle" (when your parents make statements about the EDM culture you can point to this clothing line and note that they dressed the same way when they were kids). The designer's bash didn't include any actual psychedelic musicians but the audience got an All Star lineup of DJ talent. Skrillex and Diplo are obviously huge, and A-Trak is a must see for anyone who appreciates good, old-school scratching.

Most exciting perhaps for attendees was one celebrity friend who stopped by to see one of the performers: Madonna. Diplo has been named by the pop star as one of the two producers behind her forthcoming 2015 album, possibly titled Unapologetic Bitch (Avicii is the other producer listed).

Heck of a way for Planet Ibiza New York to kick off what will probably be a highly-ranked debut when the new club lists come out. Keep an eye out for big-name residencies in the future.
