Foo Fighters are throwing a 20th anniversary celebration bash this Independence Day. To mark the milestone, the band will perform a concert in the nation's capital along with some special guests. The show takes place at the RFK Stadium and will feature sets from Buddy Guy, Gary Glark Jr., Heart, Joan Jett, LL Cool J, Trouble Funk, and Trombone Shorty.

In all-American fashion, the band promises fireworks, a motorcycle rally, and a BBQ for the occasion. The tickets for the D.C. anniversary event go on sale this Saturday (Nov. 8) at 10 a.m.

The band will release their eighth studio album Sonic Highways on Nov. 11. The next episode of their HBO series of the same name, which chronicles the making of the album and the landscape of American music, airs tomorrow (Nov. 7) and takes Dave Grohl and company to Austin, Texas. So far, the series has showcased the band's sessions in Chicago, Washington D.C., and Nashville. After Austin, the band will highlight their time in Los Angeles, New Orleans, Seattle, and New York.

For the Foo Fighters July 4 Anniversary gig, don't expect to hear them play their debut album in its entirety. Grohl recently stated that bands that perform old albums in full are "presumptuous" and "lazy."

In addition to their anniversary concert, Grohl had initially discussed re-recording the band's self-titled 1995 debut album, which Grohl originally recorded himself in a matter of days. The plan was nixed after drummer Taylor Hawkins told him it was "the worst idea ever."

"I mean, I don't mind playing a lot of those old songs just to revisit," Grohl told NME. "But the best way to celebrate our 20th anniversary isn't to focus on 20 years ago, but to focus on the last 20 years, meaning two years ago and six years ago and eight years ago."
