Beyoncé took everyone by surprise last year when she released her self-titled visual album. Fans were thankful for the album and no one imagined Yoncé would team up with the self-proclaimed "Queen of Rap" for a remix to one of the album's hottest cuts, but it happened. Time recently named the "Flawless (Remix)" featuring Nicki Minaj the best song of 2014 while the magazine called "Rude" by MAGIC! the year's worst.
Back in August, Yoncé and Minaj's collab made its way to the Internet, explaining the delay of the release of the YMCMB rapstress' "Anaconda" single. As if having the two on the same track wasn't exciting enough, B took the opportunity to openly reference the elevator incident between her sister Solange and husband Jay Z in her lines: "Of course sometimes s--t goes down when there's a billion dollars on an elevator."
The Hit-Boy produced track, which features a sample of OutKast's "SpottieOttieDopalicious," would later appear on the platinum edition of Beyoncé's self-titled album.
"In a year that saw a number of high-profile female pop collaborations, 'Flawless' never topped the charts like 'Fancy,' but what it lacked in radio domination it made up for with sheer star power," wrote TIME.
Taylor Swift's "Blank Space" trailed behind as the second best song of 2K14, followed by Future's "Move That Dope" featuring Pusha T and Pharrell.
"Rude" by MAGIC!, Redfoo's "Literally, I Can't" featuring Lil Jon and Enertia McFly and Jessie J's "Masterpiece" were named the top 3 worst songs. Fergie ("L.A.LOVE") and Iggy Azalea ("Black Widow") also made the list.
The best albums of the year were Azealia Banks' Broke With Expensive Taste (No. 10), Lana Del Rey's Ultraviolence (No. 6), Taylor Swift's 1989 (No. 4), and FKA twigs' LP1 (No. 1), according to TIME.
