It is always interesting when CNN's Anderson Cooper turns up on Watch What Happens: Live, the late-night chatfest with Andy Cohen. The men are known to be pretty decent friends and there has been speculation over the years that perhaps they have dated. This time around, Cooper decided to tell the story about why they have never actually gone out on a date.

According to Cooper, it almost happened, as a mutual friend did try to set them up.

"When we were set up ... we had a phone call to talk before we actually went out on a date. And I don't know how, but both of us sort of decided, based on that one phone call, We're not going to go on a date. I don't remember what it was," said the silver fox.

Cohen quickly jumped in at the end of Cooper's comments and readily agreed that the idea to nix a date was certainly mutual. Cooper and Cohen may not have had a romantic future, but the CNN anchor has been happily dating Benjamin Maisani since 2009.

Cohen is currently single, and in a recent interview did not seem too unhappy about that:

"I think I am really set in my ways. I think I have worked too much. I think I'm happy as I am. I think that I'm waiting to get struck by a lightening bolt of love which maybe doesn't happen anymore. That could be a problem. I think it's those four reasons combined. I think, you know, in the meantime I'm just having fun."

Are you surprised that Cooper confirmed that he and Cohen were actually almost fixed up? They would have been an interesting pairing, don't you think? Let us know what you think down in the comments section.
