Just a few short months ago, we were talking about how Amanda Bynes's parents had all but given up on her. They had literally washed their hands of trying to help her get her life under control and were done with the court battles over hospitalizing the once-popular actress. In fact, Bynes's parents packed their bags and left California altogether to be closer to their other, saner daughter. After a few months of acting out and racking up another DUI, Bynes is reportedly doing much better.

According to a report by TMZ, Bynes is off her medication, but she is somehow lucid and a conversation with the fallen star seems normal. Supposedly, she has been spending the majority of her time doing things to reduce the stress around her, like yoga and pilates, and it has had an overall calming effect on her.

Bynes recently toured the University of Southern California and told those around her that she would like to enroll as a psych major. According to the school, she could be a student there no earlier than next fall, so it is within the realm of possibility. It also might actually be a great step for Bynes if she can hold herself together for real. Some of the best therapists have had their own inner battles to contend with, and she knows the ins and outs of the mental health system by now.

Bynes's family is said to be shocked that she seems to have stabilized without any type of intervention, but apparently decreasing the stress may have done the trick. Rather than trying to control their daughter, Bynes's parents have decided simply to allow the good times in her life because they understand that there is a decent chance that she will backslide again.

Do you think the former star would be wise to seriously look into building a life outside Hollywood? Tell us your thoughts in the comments section below.
