Nash Icon continues to scoop up old school talent. After nabbing Ronnie Dunn and Reba McEntire, the label's new acquisition is Martina McBride, the Kansas-born singer with four No. 1 country albums under her belt.

McBride announced the news while making an appearance on The Today Show this week, and then confirmed it with a tweet afterwards.

It's fitting that McBride — best known for the singles "I Love You" and "Blessed," among dozens of other charting hits — is on the label soon after Reba McEntire called for the women of country to step up amidst all the bro-downs that currently fill time on the hit stations.

"It's been kind of a weird time in country music for females, I would say, and it's in a trend now that I'm hoping is going to be more female friendly, for personal reasons," McEntire said (via USA Today).

Reba is in the midst of recording a new album herself. Working with producers Tony Brown and James Stroud, she said she's cut 11 songs songs and is working on three more.

"I've got three more to record that I have found," she said. "I'm always trying to beat out what I have already, so we just keep looking."

Meanwhile, McBride has also found success this year in the literature industry, specifically culinary literature. She dropped her cookbook Around the Table: Recipes and Inspiration for Gatherings Throughout the Year this fall.
