Yesterday evening, Jan. 13, Iceland's greatest export Björk officially announced her new album through a handwritten message posted to her Twitter account. Keeping with her tradition of single-word album titles, this new album has been dubbed Vulnicura, and though no album cover has yet been revealed, Björk shared the titles of the album's nine tracks: "Stonemilker," "Lionsong," "History of Touches," "Black Lake," "Family," "Notget," "Atom Dance," "Mouth Mantra" and "Quicksand." The album is set for release sometime in March.

Vulnicura will be Björk's ninth studio album, her first since 2011's Biophilia. According to Billboard, six of the album's songs were produced by Venezuelan producer Alejandro Ghersi, aka Arca, who is best known for his work with Kanye West and FKA twigs. As we have previously reported, British electronic artist Bobby Krlic, who performs under the name The Haxan Cloak, also contributed to the album.

Though no album cover has yet been revealed for Vulnicura, its album title subtly indicates what the cover might look like. Nearly all of Björk's album covers feature photographs of the singer standing and directly facing the camera, with the exception of two: 2001's Vespertine and 2007's Volta, which feature photographs of Björk from different angles, and which until now were the only two Björk albums whose titles began with the letter "v."

Seeing as how Vulnicura also starts with "v," there is a chance that its cover will feature a photo of Björk from an angle other than head-on, or maybe that is just a crackpot theory that way too much thought was put into.

In other Björk news, the singer will be the subject of a career retrospective at the Museum of Modern Art in New York from March 8 to June 7. You can find more information on that here.
