Run The Jewels is far from the best-selling hip hop act from the last two years. Despite that fact, they're potentially the most culturally relevant at the moment, thanks not only to the critical acclaim that's been brought down upon its self-titled debut from 2013 and Run The Jewels 2 last year, but also the group's recognizable logo: A pair of amputated hands, one holding a chain and the other making a gun. That sort of recognizability has gotten them an honor that many an emcee can't claim: a Marvel comic book cover (from Pitchfork).

Two in fact. Both Howard The Duck #2 and Deadpool #45 will feature two possible covers, one with more standard art and the other adapted from Run The Jewels. Howard The Duck's cover will feature the title character and Rocket Raccoon, the former holding the chain and the latter making a gun (while holding his typical enormous firearm in his other hand). Both characters are the dirty aquamarine color of the trademark hands. The Deadpool cover features the antihero's hand in gun position and Thanos (wearing the "Infinity Gauntlett," according to Music Times house nerd Jorge Solis) holding the jewels.

The folks over at Marvel may not have the best feel on who the biggest stars in hip-hop are, but their children certainly have the best tastes: Editor-in-chief Axel Alonso was turned onto the group because his son was a fan.

Both rappers in the group were thrilled with idea. El-P claimed up to 80 percent of rappers were comic book nerds, but Killer Mike's response was priceless:

"I knew it was happening potentially," he said to Rolling Stone. "But when it came all the way through, I was dancing around the room in my Polo underwear."
