First, D'Angelo surprised the world by releasing his first album in 14 years Black Messiah in December, and then he made his fans rejoice by announcing a one-off show in New York City at The Apollo. And now, fans of the "Really Love" singer will be able to see him on another NYC stage, albeit one with more accessibility. Today (Jan. 20), D'Angelo was announced as the latest musical guest on Saturday Night Live.

SNL made the musical guest announcement for its Jan. 31 episode on its Twitter and Facebook page. D'Angelo is set to hit the stage on the NBC sketch comedy show at the end of the month alongside host and Whiplash actor J.K. Simmons.

According to People, D'Angelo won't be taking the stage alone on Saturday Night Live - he's set to perform alongside his band The Vanguard.

D'Angelo is just one of many acts to grace the SNL stage in the show's 40th season. Other booked acts this year have included Sia, Nicki Minaj, Ariana Grande, Kendrick Lamar, One Direction and more.

This week, country crooner and The Voice coach Blake Shelton is set to perform and host the show.

Saturday Night Live will mark D'Angelo's first TV performance in quite some time and his first appearance during his promotion of Black Messiah. His SNL performance will come one week ahead of his performance at The Apollo in Harlem. Pre-sale tickets for The Apollo performance took place yesterday (Jan. 19), and a general on sale is set to begin once again for the hot tickets tomorrow (Jan. 21) at 10 a.m.
