After debating Nancy Grace over the issue of marijuana legalization on national television, 2 Chainz is looking to take some of that momentum and run for mayor of College Park, Georgia — his hometown. That's right, the "I'm Different" rapper is looking to move from music to politics. He spoke to XXL to assure fans that he was considering it for real.

"I'm a musician, not a politician," he said. "I'm supposed to be running for mayor in College Park. I got everybody wishing. I'm really gonna do this little mayor thing in College Park. I'm just trying to make sure I have the right qualifications."

According to the publication, Chainz graduated from the Alabama State University with a 4.0 grade point average. That alone doesn't make him a ready candidate, but weirder things have happened. Remember, this is the same country where a guy famous for lifting weights and saying "I'll be back" was the governor of California.

"We'll see where the future lies for me, but you know, everything I do gotta be organic," Chainz added.

Grace pulled the "think of the children" card on Chainz during their entertaining debate, and he handled it like a champ.

"I'm not sure if you know, but everybody has the ability to get their hands on pot right now, whether it's legal or not. I just feel like if you legalize this particular drug you could cut out certain things in the criminal justice system as far as the overcrowding of prisons, as far as putting it on our criminal record to prevent us from getting loans, to prevent us from getting homes," the rapper countered.

Chainz argued that minor drug charges, even ones that are dropped, are a waste of taxpayers' money.
