Yesterday, Feb. 4, was Signing Day for high school athletes ready to commit to their future collegiate alma maters. It was a big day for Snoop Dogg and an even bigger day for his son Cordell Broadus. The 6-foot-2 wide receiver chose UCLA as the college he will be attending to play football for in the fall. Fans of the rapper were able to watch Broadus's achievements on the field recently on Snoop & Son: A Dad's Dream, an ESPN reality series. Broadus had narrowed down his choices to UCLA and USC, the latter being his father's favorite team. The young player chose the Bruins.

"I think it will be great playing with some great athletes, working hard and winning games," Broadus told ESPNU. "[Coach Jim Mora] has humility, is a great coach and has NFL experience."

Going into Signing Day, Broadus was ranked as one of the top receivers in the country and No. 3 in Nevada. He also received offers from Baylor, Florida State and Miami.

"I feel that UCLA is the best fit for me," Broadus said. "I had the offer since my ninth-grade year, so I had a great connection with the coaches. I just want to play in front of my family and keep ballin' out on the field and get a great degree."

Snoop, an avid USC fan, was behind his son 100 percent, saying he would be throwing away all of his USC gear.

"It's been awesome just watching him step into manhood and make a decision that he's comfortable with," he said.

In the preview for Snoop & Son, the rapper made it clear that he was just along for the ride, supporting his son every step of the way.

"I'm more of a friend than I am a father because a father to me is someone disciplinary, who you're really scared of. There's fear and respect. It's more of just love with me," he said.

Broadus will join another son of rap royalty: Justin Combs, son of Sean "Diddy" Combs.
