It's been over two weeks since Joe Jonas published his shocking essay "My Life as a Jonas Brother" in New York Magazine, and now the former boy band member is opening up about how the revelatory piece affected him and those around him. In a new interview with Radio.com, Joe Jonas and his brother Nick spoke about that and their lives since their band split up last month after a suddenly scrapped tour.

"I don't think there was much planning involved in that, other than it was just something I wanted to do for a long time," Joe said about writing the story. "There's no master plan behind it or anything like that; it was just stuff I wanted to speak about."

Though the massive Disney empire seems unshaken by Joe's shocking tell-all, the "My Life as a Jonas Brother" essay definitely wiped away the squeaky-clean image of the channel's stars. Joe revealed that he was introduced to weed at 17 by his fellow Disney stars Demi Lovato and Miley Cyrus, and that the PR people at Disney told them what to say and how to act in order to avoid any controversies.

With Joe speaking on everything from sex, drugs, drinking and his lack of control, the singer admitted he was nervous for friends and family to read it, but that feedback has largely been supportive.

"I've heard quite a few positive reactions and a couple negative. But for me, it's fine. I wrote this for myself," Jonas said.

He and his brother also addressed what they'll be doing post-Jonas Brothers and said they'll continue to largely focus on music, whether it be producing, performing or writing, and that even though the Jonas Brothers may be over, they're glad to have rekindled their brotherly relationship.
