A few years ago Shailene Woodley's name was one of the many being mentioned as a possible candidate to play Anastasia Steele in Fifty Shades of Grey. She quickly shot down the idea, not because she has an issue with nudity, but because she had just landed the Divergent series and the schedules would have collided. Woodley is now covering the April 2015 issue of Glamour UK and had no problem posing topless for a photo that accompanies her interview.
In the interview itself she explains her relaxed attitude when it comes to dropping her clothes on camera. "I'm totally comfortable with nudity. I'm not sure it empowers me as an actress or anything, but if I'm going to do a movie with sex scenes, then I'm going to be naked, because I don't know about you, but I don't have sex with bras and panties on. Part of the reason I love Europe is that sexuality is no big deal there. [In America] sex is something that's not talked about - yet it's in our faces more than anything else," says Woodley.
As for not pushing for that role in Fifty Shades of Grey, the actress admits that she wasn't very interested in it. Apparently she, like so many other people, wondered how they would take an X-rated book series and turn it into an R-rated film franchise with any success. "I'd read the books and thought, 'If somebody really can pull this off and make a movie out of it, they will be the biggest genius," revealed Woodley.
Obviously, Fifty was successful and Woodley is one of the hottest actresses around right now. After what seems like a long wait, Divergent fans will be thrilled to see the actress back with the new Insurgent film on March 20. What are your thoughts on Woodley?
