Shania Twain may be embarking on her farewell tour later during 2015 but that doesn't mean that she doesn't have new music in her. The pop/country icon said that she's planning on releasing a new album, perhaps as soon as this year, according to The Boot.

The good news or bad news, depending on what kind of fan you are: You won't hear it when you check Twain on her "Rock This Country Tour." She's all about delivering the hits at this point after having spent two years as a residency performer in Las Vegas.

"I want everyone to hear the hits," Twain said during an interview with Radio.com. "When I go to a show, I want to hear songs that I know. So I won't be introducing any of the new songs from the new music in this concert."

Sound like an awfully different approach to touring than fellow Canadian Neil Young, that's for sure. The downside to her Top 40-friendly tour strategy is that fans may never get the chance to check out her new stuff live, even if it ends up being a smash. She's sticking firm to the idea that "Rock This Country" will be her last gig. She also says that the new music doesn't much fit the country vibe fans will be expecting anyhow.

"It is a more soulful approach to my songwriting then I've probably ever allowed myself to have before," she said. "It's not like my music was ever traditional anyway. I don't think anybody expects that from me. Nothing that I'm doing is traditional...certainly, as I reflect back on listening to this stuff, it reminds me a lot of the influences that I had growing up. There's influences from my childhood in the music that I'm writing now."

Right, so, why not just go ahead and throw out a new track for us to check out while you're on the road? We're not expecting Buck Owens here.

All that said, Twain never claimed that this tour will be her last live stand. She may do one-off events in the future or perhaps return to Las Vegas for more residency work. Britney Spears tells us it pays well.
