This year will bring the 50th anniversary of Kinks, the debut record of The Kinks, and the Davies brothers are kinda-pretty-sure that something will happen to mark the occasion. We add the extra adverbs because nothing official has been suggested yet, but both Davies seem pretty warm to the idea

Guitarist Dave Davies said back in September that odds were "50-50" for a reunion during 2014, but everyone knows the bulk of the decision rests on the shoulders of Ray Davies, the frontman and vocalist for the legendary London rock band. Davies acknowledged during an interview with Uncut that a Kinks reunion is "as close as it's ever been to happening."

"I'd like something good to come out of it, not something sad," he said. "I'd like to do something sensible, artistic and dignified. There's every possibility it could happen, if people behave. Or misbehave at the appropriate moment."

His brother and drummer Mick Avory, the other surviving member of the original lineup, all seemed positive about a reunion during separate interviews with the magazine. Ray stated during a December interview with ABC News Radio that, of course, it wasn't about the money, and he wouldn't simply do a greatest-hits playlist.

Dave compared the often tumultuous relationship between himself and his brother to Cain and Abel, although he seemed to be trying to make something positive out of the metaphor, and didn't clarify whom was whom. Based on past experience, we wouldn't be surprised in the least if one killed the other.
