John Gosling, popularly known as the keyboardist for the Kinks from 1970 to 1978, has passed away at the age of 75; check out how his former bandmates mourned online below.

The news of his death started making rounds online after the band took to their official Twitter account to share the shocking revelation in a thread.

"We are deeply saddened by the news of the passing of John Gosling," the statement reads.

In the thread, some of the members of the Kinks shared their own thoughts about the matter, with Ray Davies expressing his condolences to his wife Theresa and the rest of his family members.

"I will hold deep affection and love for him in my heart always. Great musician and a great man," he added.

On the other hand, Mick Avory noted that the group lost "a dear friend and colleague" and he was a great musician with a good sense of humor.

As of this writing, John Gosling's family has yet to share an official statement about his death. There was also no cause of death given to the public.

John Gosling Time on the Kinks

According to Kool 101.7, the Devon, England-born musician joined the group before they appeared on "Top of the Pops."

He became a keyboardist and was responsible for some of their biggest hits like "Lola" which became an immensely popular song around the United Kingdom.

The song was able to achieve the number two spot on the charts at the time of its release. Another popular song which featured his keyboard skills was the track "A Rock 'n' Roll Fantasy" from their album "Misfits."

In a 2009 interview with Kast Off Kinks, he noted that being in the group was "certainly an education" as he wasn't made to feel as if he was "under any kind of scrutiny."

What Happened to John Gosling?

Throughout his time in the Kinks, he was able to play the keyboard for 10 more albums before deciding to leave in 1978.

He was later replaced by Gordon Edwards of Pretty Things as well as Ian Gibbons, who passed away from liver failure in 2013.

The musician's career didn't stop there as he also joined Avory and John Dalton to establish the group Kast Off Kinks. Some of their members also include Dave Clarke.

He then retired from the music industry in 2008.
