Music Times has reported in the last few weeks regarding lawsuits against Cash Money Records from former Hot Boys member Turk, Drake's discoverer Jas Prince and of course, Lil Wayne and his massive $51 million bid to separate from Birdman's label. Right now Bryan "Baby" Williams is looking to hand the Turk case, seeking an extension to respond. The "due date" for response was Wednesday.

"Today was the final day for Cash Money to answer the lawsuit, but they have asked for a 30 day extension," Turk said in an interview. "It only means that the ball is still rolling, and we are trying to resolve this matter without any litigation if possible."

Cash Money would be wise to settle with Turk as quickly as possible before other legal issues start to pile up. After all, at least that emcee is thinking rationally. The rapper left the label during 2003, when he went to Laboratory Recordz as a solo performer. Since then, he claims his former employer has hidden its earnings and potentially a significant portion of royalty payments owed to him. Considering the seriousness of the charges, and the tendency for rappers to aim big with their lawsuits, the $1.3 million he's seeking (as well as the release of his intellectual property from the label) seems like a relative bargain....especially compared to Wayne's demands.

Prince's team hasn't asked for too much, again relative to Wayne...with estimates in the $2.5 million ballpark for cuts owed off of Drake's earnings for the company. His connections have been a tad more aggressive than Turk's however, including a spoken-word threat/diss track (over a beat) sent by Jas's father James "J. Prince" Prince to Birdman, titled "Courtesy." That lawsuit has yet to be publicly addressed by Cash Money.

Perhaps the saddest sign of the state of affairs at the label was when Young Money member Tyga stated during an interview that he'd be willing to buy—not sue, but buy—his way out of his contract to get away from the imprint.
