In addition to playing guitar for one of the biggest bands in the world right now, Foo Fighters guitarist Chris Shiflett also hosts an occasional podcast called Walking the Floor. He has talked to a few big names, and recently country star Brad Paisley stopped by to gab about their chosen professions. Paisley even jammed with Shiflett's side project The Dead Peasants following the interview.

"I met Brad at a Dead Peasants gig last year and asked him if he'd be on my podcast," the Foo Fighters axeman told Rolling Stone Country. "It was like a master class in guitar playing, honky-tonk influences and the music business. Plus, when we were done, he came up and jammed on a song with Dead Peasants later that night in a bar. Epic!"

The conversation included a lot of stories from Paisley, like when he took a trip to Afghanistan on Air Force One to visit the troops.

Music was the episode's main focus, though. Paisley recounted his early days in the record business when he was releasing more ballads than up-beat numbers.

"One of my record label presidents at the time said, 'Let's not talk about the fact that you play all the guitars ... let's just talk about you as a songwriter-singer. People will figure out that you're a guitar player the first time they see you live,'" he said.

Check out the first part of the talk below.

Paisley has come a long way since those days. The singer released his 10th studio album, Moonshine in the Trunk, last year. The effort hit No. 2 on the Billboard 200 chart and received positive reviews from multiple outlets.

Shiflett is also experiencing success on the rock side of things. The Foo Fighters released Sonic Highways in November. It is the group's eighth LP and their first to come with a companion TV series.
