D'Angelo, the singer responsible for Black Messiah, his latest album, has recently announced that he will perform an intimate show in London July 13. The announcement comes on the heels of D'Angelo's recent tour in the U.K., according to NME News. The singer will perform with his band The Vanguard at London's Roundhouse in July. Tickets will go on sale this Friday, April 17.

Black Messiah was released in December 2014, nearly 14 years since Voodoo, the singer's most recent album prior to that. NME News reported on D'Angelo's explanation of Black Messiah and what the album's title means.

"Black Messiah is a hell of a name for an album," D'Angelo wrote, according to NME News. "Many will think it's about religion. Some will jump to the conclusion that I'm calling myself a black messiah. For me, the title is about all of us. It's about the world. It's about an idea we can all aspire to. We should all aspire to be a black messiah."

In an interview with the Red Bull Music Academy, D'Angelo shared his music inspirations, including Prince, and what it was like to first hear his music.

"I was 5 years old, I Wanna Be Your Lover had come out, and it was a big hit," D'Angelo told Red Bull Music Academy. "When that album came out, it was just huge. He really, literally, was the talk of the town. Everybody was wondering, 'Who is this guy? Is he a guy? Is it a girl?' No one really knew who it was. I remember we had the album, and my brothers were just enamored by this guy. They told me, 'He plays everything, he writes everything, he's singing everything,' so I was hooked from then on. I learned how to play every song on that album, note for note, at 5 years old."
