Major Lazer have unveiled potentially their most surprising collaboration to date -- a new song titled "Bass Drop" featuring the voice of comedian and actor Andy Samberg. The track was created for the most recent episode of Major Lazer's FXX Animation Domination Cartoon and the accompanying music video takes clips from the episode. "Bass Drop" will not appear on the trio's upcoming artist album, Peace Is The Mission, which makes this even more interesting as a song.

"Bass Drop" flirts with elements of the Major Lazer sound that they have used over the years, but is a distinct addition to their discography as a stand alone single. The half-time moombahton beat with gritty dubstep wobbles and sirens take the track in different direction. It is reminiscent of their collaboration with Flux Pavilion, "Jah No Partial" that had a similar fusion of dubstep and rhythms.

If you watched the first episode of their cartoon, you have an idea of what to expect from the video with its trippy graphics and color combinations. That same pattern is carried over to this scene, which is chopped up and adapted from the third episode where Major Lazer has to fight Dr. Nerd played by Andy Samberg who manages to steal the world's bass into a single drop of bass and rescue the bass for the good of humanity. As Major Lazer notes, that is way too much power for one man to handle.

Samberg's presence is felt throughout the track without small quips and distorted laughs as Dr. Nerd. As some of you may remember, this is not the first time Samberg has made a foray into the electronic music sphere. He famously parodied DJs and what they do or don't do with the Saturday Night Live skit, ironically titled "When Will The Bass Drop."

Major Lazer's Peace Is The Mission will be released on June 1.
