EDM is coming to the big screen in a big way. Roles have been given to actors who have played DJs in the past, but there haven't been any major Hollywood films with premiere actors involved. That is what has happened with a Warner Bros. Pictures and Studiocanal film titled We Are Your Friends, which is set to star Zac Efron, model turned actor Emily Ratajkowski and Wes Bentley (Interstellar, The Hunger Games). The plot focuses on a 23-year-old aspiring DJ, Zac Efron, who spends his days and nights scheming with his friends to try and become a superstar DJ. There has been buzz over the past year during filming, while Efron got DJ lessons from Alesso and spent time with Martin Garrix getting into the role. Now the full 3:15 trailer has been released and it tells nearly the whole story of the film.

Cole starts as a kid promoting parties and looks to try and make his way in the brutal music industry. As he says in the trailer in a kind of backhanded manner to make it as a DJ, "All you need is a laptop, some talent and one song."

Cole reveals his secrets to DJing, saying he starts at 125 bpm and works his all the way up to 128 bpm, where most main stage music sits. Oddly enough, the soundtrack to the trailer, Bassnectar's "You & Me" with W. Darling comes in at 70/140 bpm.

We can see that some of the movie was shot at Ultra Music Festival and is based in Hollywood, where Efron is trying to make it as a DJ.

The film will hit theaters on August 28. Don't be surprised to see some DJ cameos throughout the film. Watch the trailer below.
