Fourth of July weekend will bring more bustle than usual to Chicago--specifically, Soldier Field--for the three Grateful Dead Fare Thee Well reunion shows. With deadheads flocking to embark on a long, strange trip to the windy city, room and board may be bit scarce. The Dead drummer Bill Kreutzmann decided to team up with Airbnb for a contest where one host and their guest can win VIP tickets to the three-day gig.

"Wherever the Grateful Dead went - be it Chicago, New York, Detroit, or any other typical city involved in a typical daydream - we were surrounded by Deadheads," Kreutzmann said in a statement. "Not just fans; real community. Local Deadheads would host traveling Deadheads, and as the tour continued onward, the hosts would become the visitors. I get a little bit of that now, myself, as both an Airbnb host and as a frequent traveler."

Contestants are asked to explain in 150 words or less why they are most eligible to experience the Fare Thee Well shows and attend as Kreutzmann's guest. When the contest comes to a close on June 18, three entrants will receive passes to the anticipated event where Bob Weir, Phil Lesh, Mickey Hart and Bill Kreutzmann will reunite, notes Rolling Stone.

"I love seeing that tradition continue, both within and beyond the Deadhead community, and I love seeing it extend out to the world community," Kreutzmann said. "So of course I feel a kinship with all the other Airbnb hosts who are traveling to Chicago for Fare Thee Well or who call it their home. It's just another manifestation of the true spirit of the Grateful Dead."

The American folk rock group will head back to their native Bay Area to play two farewell shows at Santa Clara's Levi Stadium on June 27 and 28. For those unable to attend the final Dead shows, lie back on the couch and catch it on pay-per-view for $79.95, hosted by NBA Hall of Famer and notable deadhead, Bill Walton.
