For the past several months, the lawsuit between Birdman's Cash Money Records and Lil Wayne has been pretty quiet publically beyond some sparring of words. However last night we may have seen a major development in what has been a very toxic situation for Weezy's career. Last night at Bay Area hip-hop radio station 106 KMEL's annual Summer Jam, Lil Wayne performed and during his set he took the time to make a very special career-related announcement. Details are very scarce, but according to an Instagram video from the night, Weezy announced to the crowd that he had signed a deal with Jay Z, more specifically saying "I just signed a deal with my motherf*ckin idol Jay Z."

There aren't any more details beyond that as the video cuts off right as he announces the deal, but this would be a big move for Lil Wayne. Jigga is involved with a lot of different aspects of the music industry, so a move to Roc Nation isn't necessarily certain. Weezy could be joining the likes of J. Cole, Jay Electronica, Big Sean and Shakira at Roc Nation or he could be doing something else with Jay.

Jay Z famously is also attempting to lead the newly relaunched music streaming service TIDAL to greener pastures and might be looking to release a new piece of material exclusively on the service. Tha Carter V is almost certainly out of the question since it is locked up in the $51 million lawsuit levied by Weezy against Birdman and Cash Money, but Wayne's upcoming project Free Weezy could be in play and was expected to be released a few months ago. He was recently announced as a new co-owner in the service and released the video for "Glory" exclusively on TIDAL, which could be an indication of further signs of collaboration between the two.

Watch the video below via Noisey and stay tuned for any new details as this story develops.

UPDATE: Wayne's manager, Cortez Bryant clarified the situation to Billboard, saying, "When Wayne was speaking about the partnership with Jay Z, he was speaking about his new deal as an artist owner with Tidal." Not surprising, but when Wayne said he "just" signed a deal with Jay, it wasn't out of line to think there might have been a new development in their relationship.
