Did Ben Affleck's Addictions Ruin Marriage to Jennifer Garner

Now that it has been confirmed that Jennifer Garner and Ben Affleck are indeed preparing to file for divorce, the talk has shifted towards what it actually is that caused the pair to split after ten years of marriage. The two have been denying rumors of a split for the last few months but now we are learning that Affleck and Garner have been living apart for nearly ten months. What began as a trial separation has apparently turned into a better lifestyle choice than what they had together. Garner has been very content in leading a fairly quiet life and putting her family first but it seems that Affleck was missing the whole Hollywood scene.

We also know that Affleck's gambling and alcohol issues seemed to cause trouble for the couple over the years and in the end, that might be what ended up killing this marriage. According to an exclusive report by TMZ, "The Jen sources say Ben's drinking and gambling have escalated over the last few years to the point 'she couldn't take it anymore.' Ben's sources also say he likes to drink and loves to gamble ... in fact, Ben has rhapsodized about gambling in interviews."

The official explanation given has simply been that the once loving couple has grown apart and it seems pretty obvious to us that they have. Garner sacrificed a smoking hot career in order to take care of their three kids and at some point, if Affleck wasn't pulling his weight, resentment must have easily set in. If his addictions were really an ongoing issue, then there could easily have been times when Garner felt like she had another child on her hands. That alone could have ruined this relationship.

Are you surprised that all of the rumors about these two splitting ended up being true? Or are you more surprised to hear that they actually split months ago and managed to keep it a secret until just recently? Tell us your thoughts in the comments below!
