Deadmau5, real name Joel Zimmerman, has been quiet on the release front thus far in 2015 beyond producing a single for a new addition to the Mau5trap family by Colleen D'Agostino titled "Stay." He also shared a lengthy, airy "Drop The Poptart" edit of the track as well. Just because there haven't been any official releases coming out of the Zimmerman's studio deep in the Canadian woods, that does not mean he has not been working on new music. Today, he uploaded to his SoundCloud a new version of a track the Canadian producer released for free last year with UK rapper Shotty Horroh titled "Are You Not Afraid?."

The original mix shows the heavier side of deadmau5 as he crafts a glitchy and dubby instrumental for the measured verses from Shotty Horroh. The new rework ditches the deep electronic stabs for bass guitar and more old-school feel.

"Are You Not Afraid" was originally released on deadmau5's exclusive music platform as a free download last year and did not make it onto his 25-track album while(1<2).

Deadmau5 has been off of the road for most of the winter and spring, but he unveiled his brand new live production at Governors Ball last month — albeit with a fair amount of technical difficulties. His team appears to have worked out the kinks on further stops at festivals like Bonnaroo and Glastonbury where he has been replicating the same trolling skit of bringing out left shark from Katy Perry's Super Bowl halftime show and a couch to sit on while smoking a cigarette and drinking a beer.
