Yesterday (July 7) Lil Wayne announced that the first inaugural Lil Weezyana Fest will take place at the end of August in New Orleans, where he will reunite the Nola supergroup Hot Boys, plus Cash Money Records producer Mannie Fresh. To help push the news, Weezy called into Q93 to chat with Wild Wayne and discuss the new live event and reminisce about past times with the Hot Boys and when things were good with Birdman before the current lawsuit.

The interview kicks off with a short intro about what Weezy just released - his Free Weezy album. Weezy thanks the fans for going out and streaming it on TIDAL and giving him feedback online.

The topic then turns to the Hot Boys reunion and Weezy's start as a rapper in New Orleans in the Cash Money Records family. The radio presenter recalls meeting up with Baby one day and having voice messages played for him from some rapper who would leave them every day after school. Birdman commented that "this kid is cold." That kid turned out to be Lil Wayne.

Tunechi recalls how back when the Hot Boys were really starting to blow up, Juvenile pushed him to be a superstar because Wayne was the best in the group.

He also shared some interesting behind the scenes information about the release of 500 Degreez, which was not as successful as many had hoped in the Lil Wayne camp. Apparently it was pushed by Birdman primarily as a way to show the label was still hot after the departure of Juvenile.

Wild Wayne tried to compare that to the Young Thug, Barter 6 situation and Weezy quickly dismissed that notion as totally different.

The career-spanning interview comes to Tunechi's big-name Young Money signings, Nicki Minaj and Drake. He comments about Minaj, "she was impossible to pass up," but had more interesting words to say about Drake. At first he had to be convinced about the Toronto rapper because he was so taken aback at his honesty, yet he was talking about things Wayne could relate to, which didn't fit the persona. However, once Wayne heard Drake sing, the contract was printed.

He speaks kindly about Birdman the whole interview as they talk primarily about the past and stay away from the current rift between the two parties. Listen to the full interview below via Complex.
