As promised, the Young Money front man Lil Wayne dropped his much awaited new Free Weezy Album, aka #FWA, to mark Independence weekend as well as his freedom from his longtime label home Cash Money Records, exclusively via Tidal. Wayne, who announced he would be partnering with idol Jay Z on this new venture, as he has become a co-owner within Tidal, and released his 15-track labor of love for fans today. Aside from the Young Money head hancho flooding the ears of listeners, the project also includes features from the likes of Wiz Khalifa, Jeezy, Cory Gunz, Jim 'Capo' Jones and more.
Weezy's newest project follows behind his Sorry 4 The Wait 2 mixtape, which dropped earlier this year. Despite him dropping his newest project via Tidal, Wayne still has a long way to travel as he is still embroiled in a legal battle with his Cash Money parent company in addition to him no loner being on speaking terms with Birdman, who he is suing for $51 million, as his Carter V album remains in limbo due to the fact that Cash Money holds the rights to it. Back in Decmber, Wayne took to Twitter to voice his frustration, tweeting, "I want off this label and nothing to do with these people but unfortunately it ain't that easy. I am a prisoner and so is my creativity. Again, I am truly sorry and I don't blame ya if ya fed up with waiting for me and this album."
Despite his legal woes involving his former pal Birdman, Weezy believes with every fiber in his being that this newest project is some of his best work in a long time. Back in April, Wayne took to his Twitter account once again to share his excitement with the world saying, "I honestly gotta say that this #FWA album is my best work yet! I won't let u down as a fan. Dis sh!t is a beast! Ok let me get bak 2da booth."
