It has been a pretty rocky year for E!'s Giuliana Rancic. First she came under serious fire for making what many perceived to be racist remarks about Zendaya's hair on Oscar night and then she chased that with a book that painted a fairly negative picture of her as well. Her drama directly contributed to the hiatus of Fashion Police and many expected her to be fired from the series. Instead Rancic has announced that she will be leaving E! News later this summer.

The pin-thin host issued a statement through E! explaining her exit: "For more than a decade, I was fortunate enough to play a role in the success of E! News and will miss my family at the show. At the same time, I am excited to not only continue as host of two major franchises on E! but also executive produce the aspirational new show Rich in Faith for Oxygen as well as take my wine and clothing lines to the next level. This is such a thrilling time for me and I thank the gang at E! for understanding my desire to embark on this next chapter in my life."

It was recently confirmed that Rancic will be a cohost on Fashion Police when it returns in September so she isn't completely cutting ties with the network that helped to make her a household name. Are you surprised that she has decided to leave E! News? Or do you think that it was a wise decision since her comments earlier this year seemed to sit badly with many of the same Hollywood players that she was reporting on?

Will you tune in to see how the revamped Fashion Police does when it premieres in September? Rancic is supposedly good friends with executive producer, Melissa Rivers, who is now also going to be a cohost. Do you think that these two women will be able to restore the series to what it once was or is it Rancic that is actually the show's main problem now? Tell us your thoughts in the comments below!
