Last night, on the I Am Cait series premiere, we saw Kanye West meet Caitlyn Jenner for the first time. West has been surprisingly absent from all the media attention surrounding Jenner's transition, but last night's episode shows the "All Day" rapper is just as supportive as the rest of the Kardashian clan.
The clip opens with Jenner sharing a hug with both Kim and 'Ye. Before we hear from West, Jenner tells us, in a behind-the-scenes interview, "Kanye and I have never really been very close, but I love his open-mindedness, and I love how he's helped Kim come to grips with what's going on."
We then hear from West, who praises Jenner for her courage. He calls her public transition "one of the strongest things that have happened in our, you know, existence as human beings, that are so controlled by perception."
"You couldn't have been up against more. Your daughter's a supermodel, you're a celebrity...and it was still like, 'F*ck everybody, this is who I am."
The whole group, which includes Jenner's mother and older sister, shares smiles after West's encouraging words. "This is just the beginning," Kardashian says. Expect to see plenty more of Kimye on this season of I Am Cait.
The attention then turns to the power couple's unborn baby boy—"We've wanted this for a long time"—and, then, to Yeezy's all-white, unlaced shoes, which West describes to Jenner's bewildered sister as "sock shoes." Nice sly plug there, Adidas.
