Despite Bill Murray's hesitance to appear in a third installment of Ghostbusters, it seems he has no reservations about appearing in the film's upcoming female-led reboot. It's uncertain if he'll reprise his role as Peter Venkman or if he'll take on a completely unrelated character in the Paul Feig-directed film.

During a 2011 chat on the Late Show With David Letterman, Murray called Ghostbusters 3 a "nightmare." "I told them if they killed me off in the first reel I'd do it, so now they've figured out a way to kill me, but it's crazy talk," Murray said according to Rolling Stone, touching upon the poor response to the sequel film and how it soured the franchise for him.

The celebrated 1984 comedy recently saw its 30th anniversary. Murray deferred the conversation and instead, suggested that a new cast should take over, citing his dream team as Melissa McCarthy, Emma Stone, Linda Cardellini and Kristen Wiig. According to The Hollywood Reporter, McCarthy and Wiig were chosen for the reboot as well as Saturday Night Live's Kate McKinnon and Leslie Jones while Chris Hemsworth will portray the Ghostbusters' receptionist.

Murray isn't the only former Ghostbuster or celebrity to make a cameo in the reboot. Dan Aykroyd filmed alongside Wiig in July, but like Murray, it's not clear if he'll appear at Ray Stantz or as an entirely different role. The Prince of Darkness himself, Ozzy Osbourne, will also appear during a heavy metal portion of the movie. The Boston Herald notes that a "spy on the scene" learned of of flyers advertising a "Rock Revenge Fest featuring Ozzy Osbourne" as part of a "12 Hour Marathon of Metal." Rumors stirred about a "baton-passing" scene between the old and new cast but it a quickly refuted after the death of Harold Ramis.

The Ghostbusters reboot will makes its theater debut on July 15, 2016.
