It may seem like it was just yesterday that One Direction released its latest album Midnight Memories (realistically, it was November) but the prolific boy band is already prepping work on its fourth studio album.

It seems like members Louis Tomlinson, Liam Payne and Harry Styles are all in the studio writing new material.

According to NME, One Direction has worked with Benji and Joel Madden of Good Charlotte and Irish rock band Kodaline on new songs.

On Saturday (March 8), Joel Madden took to his official Instagram to tease a photo of himself and his brother with Payne. “Noice! The London boyz putting in tha werk in the studio,” he captioned.

Meanwhile, Benji announced they were working with 1D on Twitter. “Good day today w/ @Louis_Tomlinson and @Real_Liam_Payne lotta laughs #1D #Directioners their new album is crazy. homies!! #Noice,” he wrote.

Meanwhile, Kodaline are working with Styles separately on some new music in Los Angeles, as depicted on its Twitter.

(Kodaline's time in the L.A. studio coincided with its performance on last week's American Idol results show.)

Though Midnight Memories had more of a folksy vibe in its pop music, working with Kodaline and Good Charlotte could mark a more masculine, rock leaning sound for 1D's fourth record. Though prolific and known for its poppy singles, One Direction has constantly been changing its sound throughout the last four years.

Writing and recording new music isn't all One Direction has in store for 2014. In November, the "Story Of My Life" group announced the Where We Are North American Tour for this summer.
