R&B icon icon Anita Baker is in legal trouble, but the good news is that it seems to be rather mundane. According to news reports, the Detroit Police Department has issued a warrant for Baker's arrest with regard to her failure to show up at a creditor's examination as part of a lawsuit last year.

Baker has been accused by Ray A. Smith Painting & Decorating of not paying for $15,000 worth of revamping done to her home outside of Detroit. The performer was subpoenaed to appear in court regarding the sum, which she didn't do. It seems the home repair company is looking to just get this over with and collect what they're legitimately owed...a rarity in this age of mega-lawsuits.

"We're not trying to give her any hard time or anything unnecessary. We just would like to collect the money for my client," said Daniel Gerow, the company's attorney. "He's owed the money, and that could end it all right then."

Baker learned about the warrant from a television report, and seemed surprised by the charges, although she didn't specifically deny anything.

"WHATTT??!!" she tweeted. "Sittin' in the kitchen watching this on TV. BIG time crazy. Atty on his way to TV Station. Devil who is busy."

Baker's previous legal run-ins are relatively mundane. The vocalist neglected signing divorce papers during 2010 and almost wound up in jail.

Baker has won 8 Grammy Awards since 1987, and she's especially noted for her acclaimed 1986 album Rapture. The vocalist was the leading voice in the "quiet storm" style R&B, which emphasizes soulful vocals over subtle slow jazz instrumentals.
